About Me!
Hello, Iām Rebecca Maric, a passionate artist and educator exploring the intersections of photography, video art, collage, and painting. Originally from Westchester, NY, my artistic journey is greatly influenced by my family, friends, past art teachers and my environment. My exploration in art allows me to capture fleeting moments and explore with the freedom of form and composition.
In addition to my visual arts practice, I am also an avid soccer player and viewer. The dynamic movements on the field and the strategic play inspire me with its fluidity and teamwork. Gardening is another passion of mine, where the cycles of growth and the interplay of colors and textures in nature influence my artistic palette. As a film buff, narratives, cinematography, and visual storytelling techniques enriches my understanding of composition and mood in my own artwork. These hobbies not only provide me with enjoyment and relaxation but also serve as springs of inspiration. They have assisted my creativity, offered diverse perspectives and stimulated my imagination in unexpected ways.
My degree in Art History from St. Lawrence University provided me with a framework to analyze artistic movement, cultural influences, and the intersection of art with politics and identity. Building on this foundation, my Masters in Art + Education from New York University has been pivotal in shaping my approach to teaching. It has equipped me with the innovative pedagogical techniques, curriculum development skills, and awareness of educational theory and practice. This dual perspective allows me to not only appreciate artistic expressions but also to effectively communicate its importance and relevance to my students.
